The waiting room. There he sat across from me. Mister Mouth. A stranger but it didn't take a genius to figure out he was all mouth, and he loved to talk. Yap, yap, yap, you couldn't switch him off. "Do you know how much it costs to have a tooth pulled" he asked me. "No," said I.
"A thousand dollars. Can you believe it? A thousand dollars" says he. I raised a brow, "Cant say I do believe it says I." and with that I hobbled outside for a breath of fresh air and to get away from brain boy aka Mister Mouth.
The nurse called me inside and I met with the Doctor. I knew I wasn't going to like this and half expected it. "Looks like you're going to the hospital on this one."
"Lets not and say we did", says I. "Lets do something else. I don't like that hospital of yours, I really don't". So we settle on a trial of new antibiotics and very strict rules of keeping off my foot and have it elevated above my heart 4 times a day, thirty minutes each session and no less.., more is better.
I go back Monday and if its worse or no better I go to the horspital. Of course if it gets worse between now and then I go to the horspital. Hopefully this new game plan will work. Also he FINALLY thinks to test for Gout - in which case Herb and a few others would have been right all along should the test turn out as such..
I gotta go now. Have to elevate that foot ya know. TTFN

1,000 bucks a tooth, here is a story,
When I got my wisdom teeth pulled was about 600. This was becuase I told the crazy guy with the pilars that he wasn't going to charge me an extra 300 to be knocked out.
So I got them pulled awake if i hadn't it would have been around 1,000 dollars.
Side note, i think that would have been a good 300 dollars to spend.
Second, Gout, at least in my experiance never involved purple, redness yess but purple no.
Not that I am a doctor or have even played on on tv, but I like the suggestioin of getting tested for diabiates, ASAP.
Hope all is well, if it is just an aggressive infection, have they tested you for Staph?

I have a friend that has gout and he's told me how painful it can be ... just get it taken care of, Daveman! And I agree with Pen. Have you had a diabetes test? Something to think about.
I don't blame you for not wanting to spend time in the hospital, though. Those places are dangerous! There's lots of sick people. No telling what you might catch! |

Egads, I hope it isn't gout, although it would be the least of your worries, I should think! My hubby gets attacks of gout from time to time - it isn't pretty around here at all when that happens! |

A thousand bucks to pull a tooth? Well I'll be darned. How much to actually have it extracted? Go back and find out!
I'm not too impressed with Herr Doktor, Daveman. Not that I know anything, but just throwing different antibiotics at it? I've gotten better treatment from veterinarians - "well, there's lots of 3-legged dogs out there...." |

mine is due to my heart condition - but the way you described yours sounds like diabetes or gout -
