Today on Christmas Eve, I'm thinking of my cousin, Jerry C., not to be confused with
Jerry of BlogDrive fame. Although BlogDrive Jerry reminds me of another cousin of mine but we REALLY don't wanna go there <intensely wicked grinz>.
Jerry C., and I were almost like Siamese twins. We had fun!!! He's the one with that fabulous early model Mustang some of you may recall in an earlier entry. We would cruise for chicks, raid the local Taco joint and feast on tacos every Sunday almost without fail. Try to pick up chicks in that "
Happy Days" kind of way..., We would shoot hoops, work on his SuperSport Malibu which was just barely street legal and so much more.
One episode taking his SS Mali machine for a test ride - we cruised down the street on a velvety white cloud of burned rubber that laid a rather lengthy black "
Back To The Future" Delorian fire trail.., and out from the white clouds came quiet popping twin blue lights. Fortunately the policeman knew his Dad and let him go with a warning.
This cop by the way, mentioned that he had reports all over the place about HIS Malibu tearing up and down the streets, burning rubber from one end of town to the other - and the truth about those episodes was that I was the culprit because as I myself also had a hunk of a Malibu street machine. Needless to say this didn't go over well with Jerry. I never got caught and he did. But I digress -his rod was the fastest by far.
Anyways - he later got married. His wife was a real freak making him miserable - his wife blaming me for their problems accusing me of trying to get the man to cheat on her - which was totally ridiculous. I respected marriage enough I'd of never, ever, gotten him to mess around with other women. Long story made short - I backed off, stayed away so that she could have the opportunity to blame others -after all - why should I hog all the misplaced glory?
My staying out of it didn't change anything. Somehow she still reasoned I was at the root of their problems though I quit coming around. Heck - even his Dad and Mom (my great Uncle and Aunt) bought into the woman's delusions and warned me to stay away from Jerry as I was just causing far too many problems. Hello? What did I have to do? Kill myself? That wasn't happening, not to satisfy anybody's delusions. And I loved and respected my great Uncle and Aunt - I really did.
Anywho - I have not seen my cousin Jerry in around 25 to 30 years - wait - nope I think I did see him one time in passing with not much time to talk some 18 years ago.. he was divorced and remarried. His new wife seemed to dote on him like he was her personal hero. He deserved a woman like the new one. He really did, she was pretty, intelligent and appreciated him.
Ah - so much for memories. I miss the old days, but alas they are relegated to the pages in my mind labeled, "Past History - File Closed"
I don't know what this has to do with Christmas Eve or Christmas, because I really have no memories of either of us hanging with each other for Christmas, nor did we exchange gifts. Perhaps I'm thinking of him because my Dad saw Jerry a couple days ago. HAH! Jerry's got gray hair according to my Dad's report! Just a few months older than me and he has gray hair - all my former and few present friends, cousins and even both my brothers all have gray hair. Me? I'm the odd man out because I still have a dark brown head full of hair - just slightly peppered with white - but I'm reasonably sure that wont last much longer. So much for gloating. (psst - the beard though has more gray than me head)
Cousin Jerry - if you're out there somewhere and by chance happen across my blog - MERRY CHRISTMAS BUDDY! I miss ya dude. You were my bestest friend in all the world, you old goat. If I never see you again, that would truly be the saddest happening in my entire life. I love ya man, in that straight, manly, hetero, brotherly sort of way. May our paths one day cross again on a happy occasion.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
YOU DAVEMANIA READERS!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with gray hair! I earned every one of mine and nobody ... NOBODY ... not Miss Clairol or anybody else ... is going to take them away from me!
I hope you find Jerry someday, Daveman. |

Turns out my dad and I are named Jerry as well as my grandmother who was named Gerladine, I got a cousin Gerald that goes by Jerry, I am thinking that is the cousin whom you refer too.
Also I would make some effort to contact your old pal, surely a quarter century can be counted as time served. |

FOR THE RECORD - I dont use hair coloring or dyes. When my head goes completely gray, I will wear it with pride. I earned far more gray hairs than those few that show. |
